ISO 45001 Safety

ISO 45001 Safety

WHY ISO 45001 CERTIFICATION

UNI ISO 45001 - is the first international standard that provides a complete picture of management systems relating to health and safety in the workplace.

Starting in March 2018, ISO 45001 began to replace the British enactment standard called BS OHSAS. The decision was made by the IAF (International Accreditation Forum) General Assembly of 2016, and confirmed by the document IAF MD 21: 2018 "Requirements for the Migration to ISO 45001: 2018 from OHSAS 18001: 2007"

It was contextually implemented by UNI as the Italian UNI ISO 45001: 2018 standard.

Organizations still certified with BS OHSAS 18001 will have to migrate to ISO 45001 by March 2021, the last validity date of the previous regulatory standard.

The new international standard is in step with the current revision process of the other already updated standards and adopts the high level structure (HLS-HIGH level Structure), following the related standards, including:

- Risk-based thinking, risk-based approach.

- Context of the organization

- Leadership and involvement of top management

- Documented information, with freedom to choose the most appropriate ways to draw up and keep the documentation

- Consultation and involvement of workers, whose skills are elevated as a requirement for achieving the organization's objectives

This standard aims to help provide a structured management system for companies of any size and in any sector, with the aim of reducing risks in the workplace and continuously improving employee safety. The international labor organization (ILO) estimates that more than 6,000 people lose their lives every day for work-related reasons and in Italy the economic impact of accidents is around 3.5% of GDP.
