SA 8000 ETHICAL CERTIFICATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY -

WHAT IS IT?

SA 8000, ethical certification, is an international management system first published in 1997 by the Council on Economic Priorities Accreditation Agency (CEPAA), now SAI (Social Accountability International), which guarantees that an organisation is socially responsible in compliance with the rules of work ethics.

WHO THE ETHICAL CERTIFICATION IS ADDRESSED TO KNOWS SA 8000

It is addressed to all those companies and organizations that want to differentiate themselves for their commitment focused on working conditions and in particular on social issues. It is universally applicable to all types of organisations, regardless of size, geographical location or industrial sector.

THE PURPOSE

The aim is to protect all personnel who fall within the sphere of control and influence of an organisation and who produce services or products for it, including not only its own personnel, but also those employed by its suppliers, subcontractors, sub-suppliers and homework.

The core elements of this standard are based on ILO (International Labour Organisation) conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the national legislation of each country. During the SA8000 certification audit, documentation including the SA8000 Standard and the attached SA8000 Performance Indicators (available online at the official website) is reviewed.
