Audit Smeta has been defined by Sedex, an acronym for Securitised Derivatives Exchange, is a worldwide non-profit organisation based in London, a leader in improving conditions in global supply chains. Companies use it to assess their quality standards in the areas of health, safety, labour rights, environment and business ethics.

Sedex offers a safe and effective way through the use and sharing of an online database, which collects and processes data on companies' ethical performance to demonstrate ethical concerns throughout the supply chain.

Sedex is the largest platform that collects and processes data on the ethical behaviour of supply chains. Members have the advantage of being able to publish their SMETA audit reports directly on the SEDEX system for all customers to view.

SMETA AUDIT

The SMETA audit can be of two different types:

2 pilars : working conditions, health and safety (mandatory) are verified

4 pilars: working conditions, health and safety, environmental management, corporate integrity (ethical aspects) are verified.

AUDIT SMETA WHY CHOOSE IT

Companies that pass the audit in compliance with SMETA methodologies, and that become part of the SEDEX database, can demonstrate to their clients that they respect the principles of production and service delivery, with ethical and socially sustainable criteria.

Clients, on the other hand, can verify that their supply chain complies with the ETI (Etical Trading Initiative) code, based on International Labour Organization standards, and that it pays attention to the respect of workers' rights.

SMETA also examines performance with respect to migrant workers' rights, management and implementation systems, subcontracting, home working and environmental issues.

WHICH COMPANIES ARE INTERESTED IN THE AUDIT SMETA

Any company belonging to any business sector can receive an audit.

SMETA addresses all stakeholders involved in the supply chain: retailers, suppliers and manufacturers and all organisations and companies interested in demonstrating their commitment to social and ethical issues.
