What is the standard UNI EN ISO 22716 :2008 “Cosmetics — Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) — Guidelines on good manufacturing practices”?
UNI EN ISO 22716: 2008 “Cosmetics — Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) — Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practices”is the harmonized standard specifically designed for the cosmetics business. This standard gives guidelines for the production, control, storage and shipment of cosmetic products.
The Cosmetic Products Regulation 1223/2009 provides that the production and packaging activities of cosmetic products are carried out according to the rules of good manufacture (GMP), among the objectives it also has to simplify procedures and facilitate control within the market to ensure a high level of protection of human health.
Since 11 July 2013, compliance with GMP requirements has become mandatory and the adoption of the harmonized standard UNI EN ISO 22716: 2008 is the tool with which companies can demonstrate compliance with this requirement.
Who is interested in these certifications?
The standard is intended to all companies that manufacture and package their own brand cosmetics and that produce and package cosmetics with the brand of others.
ISO 22716 standard applies to the production, control, storage and shipping processes of cosmetic products. It does not apply to research and development and product distribution activities.
